Global Head of Digital Communications & Employer Brand, HSBC
Jenny Varley is the Global Head of Digital Communications & Employer Brand, responsible for shaping the HSBC story across our global channels both internally and across social media. A content strategist with twenty years’ experience in Consumer PR, Sponsorship Marketing and corporate film production, Jenny spearheaded the creation of HSBC’s multi-award winning internal video platform for employees, HSBC NOW. She also led the Group to become the first bank to publish internal communications externally on social media in 2013 and lead the team todeliver an all employee content crowdsourcing app, the first of its kind in the financial sector which went on to win over ten industry awards.
Jenny joined HSBC in 2009 as Communications Planning Manager and went on to develop an award winning team positioning HSBC as a leader and innovator in corporate video communications with over fifty awards including a Cannes Lion. Committed to continually seeking innovative ways to communicate complex topics with impact, Jenny most recently lead the team to deliver the Fighting Financial Crime film series where Senior Leaders from HSBC interviewed former criminals, law enforcement and victims of financial crime.
Prior to joining HSBC, Jenny worked in a variety of disciplines, including Consumer PR where she consulted for IMAX, Pepsi and Sony; and Sponsorship Marketing, where she worked for Formula 1 team BAR Honda and UBS. Jenny also worked as a Film Location Manager on several feature films such as the Warner Bros. Harry Potter series and Bridget Jones’s Diary by Working Title Films.
Jenny is a member of WACL (Women in Advertising and Communications London), an industry networking organisation that brings together the most senior female leaders in marketing and communications to accelerate gender equality in these industries.
